The Jersey Eisteddfod

The Jersey Eisteddfod was established in 1908 and comprises two Festivals each year: the Deutsche Bank Festival of Creative Arts is held in the Spring and encompasses adult arts and crafts, primary and secondary schools art, floral art, needlework, photography and video. The Deutsche Bank Festival of Performing Arts which takes place during the winter months includes English speech and drama, French, Norman French, music and dance.

The Festivals have a wide reach across the local community and also attract participants from our neighbouring island of Guernsey. Visiting adjudicators comment on the impressive standards achieved in every artistic field by our children and young people. They represent the future of Jersey, and judging by their skills and accomplishments, that future is in safe hands.

The Eisteddfod, without in any way turning its back on modern ideas and values, acts as a hallmark for artistic excellence and as a reminder that high standards today are just as important as they have ever been - and this commitment is shared by all of us at Deutsche Bank.
