A Lively Industry

Roger Winfield of Deutsche Bank (Mauritius) Ltd says there are abundant opportunities in the Mauritian financial services industry, aided by much recent legislation.

The financial services industry in Mauritius continues to develop strongly. A slew of new legislation was passed in 2001 that inter alia updated the Companies Act and Trust Act. The Financial Services Development Act gave birth to a new super-regulator, the Financial Services Commission, which will regulate all financial activity in the country except for banks, though they are expected to come under its ambit within the next few years.
