Guernseys lead in enabling companies
to achieve Investors in People (IiP) accreditation has been recognised
at an international conference. .
Following the success of the local pilot scheme, Guernsey
has been asked to provide mentoring support to other offshore jurisdictions
embarking on the IiP process. The Island will also host a delegation
from South Africa next month.
80 delegates from Europe and further afield, including Bermuda and
the Middle East attended the conference in Amsterdam. The objective
was to provide networking opportunities for project managers and
to develop further the standard linked to continuous improvement.
Of the 100 companies worldwide which have achieved IiP accreditation,
20 are from Guernsey and a further 7 organisations have begun working
towards the standard. The Training Agency is compiling a brochure
for organisations, containing guidelines on how to achieve IiP status
and other jurisdictions have expressed an interest in using the
publication.
Fiona Naftel, Joint Manager of the Training Agency, said; Guernseys
pioneering work with IiP has earned the island a great deal of recognition
and respect internationally. This can only be helpful in furthering
the Islands reputation for delivering quality services from
quality people.
Gerry Morrissey, Managing Director of Deutsche Bank International
Limited, Guernsey commented, Investors in People has been
a very important initiative to us. It has provided a framework within
which we have been able to develop a more focused approach to training
and development and has helped us drive through improvements in
the way we manage and develop our staff. Gaining formal accreditation
as an Investor in People represents the culmination
of more than two years hard work and preparation during which time
our business planning and people planning processes have been transformed.
