The Special Olympics Cayman Islands (SOCI)
team recently visited one of their World Summer Games key sponsors,
Deutsche Bank (Cayman) Ltd. The SOCI team is 'On the Road to Dublin'
and training hard for the 2003 Games, which will be held June 20th
- 29th in Ireland.
Deutsche Bank, one of the world's leading international financial
service providers, pledged to help send the Team to the World Games,
which are only held every four years. Tim Godber, Executive Director
of Deutsche Bank praised the athletes at the recent meeting. "We
are very proud to assist these outstanding athletes as they represent
the Cayman Islands at the 2003 World Summer Games. This partnership
reflects our corporate philosophy of focus and commitment",
Mr. Godber commented. "On behalf of all our management and
staff of Deutsche Bank, I would like to commend these devoted athletes
for all their hard work and dedication."
Special Olympics started in the Cayman Islands with the first annual
National Games held in 1990. Now equipped with community and corporate
support, the Cayman Islands branch of the Special Olympics can train
and send their team of ten local athletes to the 2003 Summer Games.
On behalf of the Special Olympics Cayman Island, Head of Delegates
and Games Organizing Chairman, Darrel Rankine stated, "I am
truly grateful to Deutsche Bank for their generosity and goodwill
towards this special group of persons especially as there are so
many other sporting organizations and groups vying for the same
dollar."
