Mark Bisson of Deutsche Bank was on hand today
to supervise the cutting of this year’s Tree of Joy for the
Rotary Club of Guernsey’s annual appeal.
The Rotary Club were delighted to identify, for the first time,
a suitable tree locally – situated at the home of Marcel and
Marlene Flouquet, La Charderie de Bas, Havilland Vale. This tree
is destined for the St. Julian’s Avenue Roundabout this weekend.
Using a locally grown tree reduces costs so the Rotary Club are
able to use the savings to purchase additional lights and decorations
for this year.
In common with many organisations, Deutsche Bank chose to nominate
a charity instead of sending corporate Christmas cards. However,
last year the Bank went one step further and agreed to provide additional
funding to underwrite the project for three years to enable Rotary's
efforts to be concentrated on raising funds to gather gifts for
children.
