Deutsche Bank’s annual banking and investment
seminar takes place on Monday, 14th March at St James.
Speaking to an invited audience from Guernsey’s financial
services industry will be Dr R McFall (Mac) Lamm, Jr., who will
be discussing portfolio asset allocation
Dr. Lamm is Chief Investment Strategist for Deutsche Bank’s
Global Investment Management Group in London/New York. He is responsible
for the management of client portfolios, advising on investment
opportunities and portfolio management innovation. Dr. Lamm also
writes global market commentaries that are disseminated worldwide
via bank publications and through the news media; he has appeared
on CNBC, CNN and other business programmes and has been widely quoted
in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times and other publications.
He has 20 years’ of experience in market analysis, trading,
investment management and research and is particularly noted for
his expertise in the alternative investments arena.
Fellow speaker, Steven Bell, is no stranger to Guernsey audiences;
he is chief economist for Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM) and joined
Deutsche Bank in 1984 after 10 years’ experience as economic
adviser at the UK Treasury. He holds a BSc from the London School
of Economics and an MA from Stanford University. Steven Bell is
a member of Deutsche Bank’s Investment Policy Committee and
is responsible for formulating the economic strategy which underpins
the investment process of DeAM. He has written several books as
well as numerous articles on international finance and economics
and is a frequent TV and Radio contributor. Steven Bell will be
discussing the current global markets perspective.
Also visiting Guernsey for Deutsche Bank’s seminar is David
Duckham MBE, England and British Lions Rugby International. Capped
36 times for England between 1969 and 1976, David made his debut
against Ireland and quickly established himself as one of England's
best left-wingers. His game was marked by pace, swerves and an ability
to wrong-foot his opponents, although this came at a time when the
English team were struggling, especially against rivals Wales.
He made a successful tour with the Barbarians - including one famous
match in which they beat the All Blacks, and arguably his best performances
were overseas. He made his last appearance against Scotland at Murrayfield
in 1976. Overall, he scored 10 tries. For his club, Coventry, he
played 12 seasons from 1967 to 1979. For his services to rugby David
was awarded the MBE. He has also written an autobiography called
Dai for England.
Mark Bisson, Head of Banking, commented ‘We are delighted
that Steven Bell has once again agreed to return to Guernsey to
offer his Global Market Perspective to our clients.
We are equally thrilled to welcome, for the first time at our
Seminar, Dr Lamm and look forward to his presentation “Beyond
Bourgeois Asset Allocation: A Post-Modern View on Investment Strategy”.
To be joined by such highly respected investment professionals
is a great pleasure for us and I am sure that they will stimulate
some most interesting discussion points.’
