The German Ambassador and Consul
General to the Cayman Islands visited the Deutsche Bank office
in George Town on 2 November 2006.
The German Ambassador and Consul General, Volker Schlegel,
visited the Deutsche Bank offices at Elizabethan Square during
his recent visit to Grand Cayman. The Ambassador, who is based
in Jamaica, was here to meet with the Governor Jack Stuart, officials
from the financial regulators and other interest groups.
Mr Schlegel took the opportunity to meet with senior staff at
Deutsche Bank to learn more about the Bank’s operation in
the Cayman Islands and to hear about its plans for the future.
Deutsche Bank was founded in Berlin in 1870 and is now a leading,
global financial institution. It established an office in Grand
Cayman in 1984 and now employs 30 staff locally.
As the only financial institution in the region with a German
heritage it was fitting that the Ambassador made the visit to
Deutsche Bank one of his priorities.
Jean-Claude Emard, Chief Country Officer for Deutsche Bank in
Cayman said: ”It was an honour and a pleasure to meet
the Ambassador. Deutsche Bank has a strong commitment to Grand
Cayman and the region and the Ambassador was keen to learn more
about our business and how we plan to grow in the future. I hope
the Ambassador will visit us again when we open our new premises
at Cricket Square in the New Year.”
