The Primary School Art and Craft
Section of the Jersey Eisteddfod have joined with co-sponsor Deutsche
Bank to promote the use of recycled materials.
Section Chairman, Wilma Allan said, “As in previous years
each School may enter fifteen pieces of 2D work and ten pieces
of 3D work. This year one of the 3D pieces could be made from
recycled materials. A special award donated by Deutsche Bank will
be given to the winner.”
The Adjudicator for the Primary School Art Section this year
is John Binet- Fauvel, who specialises in using recycled electric
wire from slot machines, electric motors etc., and transforms
it to make the most amazing pieces of art. His work has been exhibited
both in the UK and abroad.
Last year 29 Primary schools entered over 575 pieces of their
pupils’ art work in the Creative Arts Section of the Jersey
Eisteddfod which is held at the RJA & HS headquarters in Trinity.
Deutsche Bank has always been actively involved in both the Festival
of Performing Arts held in November and the Festival of Creative
Arts held in March of each year.
Sari Cuming, Marketing Manager for Deutsche Bank said, “Deutsche
Bank has a keen interest in the environment and also supports
Green Day and Jersey Environmental Week. By offering this special
prize the Bank hopes to promote awareness of the issues of sustainability
of our environment whilst helping to educate the children and
young people of our community.”
