The National Gallery has been making
great strides over the past few years to awaken the passion for
the visual arts in our islands. In continuing with this objective
it has been a dream of the Gallery to be able to offer a young
Caymanian the experience of working in the Gallery prior to further
education. After a successful launch of the programme in 2004,
and with the continued generous sponsorship of Deutsche Bank,
The National Gallery has filled the intern position for a third
year.
Funding of CI$14,500.00 from Deutsche Bank for 2006-2007, has
supported The National Gallery to hire their third intern –
Ariana Eden. A recent graduate of the John Gray High School, Ariana
is planning on attending UCCI part-time whilst at the National
Gallery, for two years and then study overseas with hopes to pursue
a degree in architecture. The new Intern stated “My future
goals are to focus on my career of choice, which is to become
a successful architect but I would also like to continue with
my other choice, which is fashion design. I became interested
in becoming an intern at the National Gallery because I wanted
to get a feel of the working world and also to surround myself
with different fields that I enjoy, which can help me in the near
future with my architecture dreams”.
